Fantasy Master Gaiden 1: Lamplight Cavern is a portrait, one-handed pixel-art dungeon RPG. From the Town of Lamplight, you lead a party of up to six into a cavern labyrinth ten floors deep.
Exploration is a classic first-person crawl, one tile at a time. But when you meet monsters, the screen changes and a real-time horde battle begins: your party, in formation, cuts down the swarm as it closes in.
How deep to go, and when to turn back. The game moves between the tension of the labyrinth and the thrill of sweeping a horde away.
Features
First-person labyrinth
A pseudo-3D maze explored step by step, with a map that fills in as you walk. Hidden doors, floor traps, and dark tiles stand in your way.
Horde battles
Battles run in real time. Your party mows down swarming monsters, and the faster you defeat them, the stronger your momentum grows: Chain, Wipe, Crush.
A party of six
Create allies from 5 races and 10 classes. Meet the stat requirements to become a Samurai, Ninja, Lord, or Bishop.
Wandering monsters
Monsters roam the labyrinth, and packs that meet merge into hordes. Strike from behind to take the first move.
A wipe is not the end
A fallen party stays where it fell. Form another party and go recover them. Maps, codex entries, titles, and records are never lost.
Chests and appraisal
Chests left after battle must be disarmed before opening. Unidentified items are appraised in town. More than 80 weapons and 60 armors await.
Exploring the labyrinth
The labyrinth is ten floors deep. Each floor brings new terrain and new monsters, and they grow tougher the deeper you go.
First-person exploration, one tile at a time: step forward, back, sideways, and turn
The map fills in automatically as you walk, and each floor keeps its exploration rate
Hidden doors, floor traps, and darkness. How well you search, disarm, and light the way depends on class and gear
Monsters roam the halls, and nearby packs merge into larger ones. The bigger the horde, the bigger the reward
Somewhere in the labyrinth, a dreadful presence lurks
The Return spell brings you home. Decide to turn back before your MP runs dry
Horde battles
Touch a monster and the battle screen opens. Your party, in formation, cuts down the oncoming swarm in a real-time fight that plays like a vertical shooter.
Attacks fire automatically on each cooldown. Melee weapons send short slashes; bows and spells fly far
Move the party with the pad, and switch Attack and Cast on or off for each ally
The further forward, the more you get hit. Build your front and back lines with rows and formations
Defeat many enemies within 3 seconds to rise through Chain, Wipe, and Crush: faster attacks and more EXP and gold
About 60 spells for attack, healing, and protection
If you cannot win, retreat. Success depends on your party's agility against the enemy's
Change battle speed or pause to play at your own pace
Party and growth
Create allies at the tavern and form a party of up to six. You can keep more allies waiting in reserve.
Five races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, and Hobbit. Base stats come from race
Ten classes such as Warrior, Knight, Thief, Hunter, Priest, and Mage, plus four advanced classes. Change class at the training ground
Levels rise when you rest at the inn. Room grades differ in recovery and in how many days pass
Carve runes at the smith to improve regeneration, defense, critical hits, trap disarming, and more
A wiped party's bodies stay in the labyrinth. Recover them with another party and revive them at the temple
Town of Lamplight
Your base is the Town of Lamplight, at the mouth of the labyrinth.
Tavern and Training: create allies, form your party, and change classes
Shop: buy and sell weapons, armor, and items, and appraise unidentified finds
